Besides his compositions, what do you feel makes Beethoven such an endearing figure?

well I would say what we know about his personality made him special. He seemed so anti-social, but so intriguing at the same time. He lived and breathed music. He kept a chamber pot under his piano, and doused his head in cold water to stay awake. This facinates me, because I like thinking about how much music was entwined with his life. Also, he became deaf, which almost made him commit suicide. It's amazing he could hear his compositions in his head.
