How wrong is it to hang out with a guy to get to his friend?

so i liked a guy all year and worked really hard to get him to like me but he turned out to be a jerk. i always regretted not going for his sensitive best friend instead, but now its too late, high school was over a month ago, i never got his #. so now this guy who is friends with both of them asked me out, i don't think i like him romantically but i am willing to be his friend, and im secretly hoping i get a chance to be with the sensitive friend i missed out on, because im pretty sure he liked me. is this wrong?
